A "Geeky Piggy Bank" (although I dont like the 'pink')! It's
intelligent because it can recognize any type of coin inserted.
The LCD displays the total amount collected. Not sure about the
price, but if it costs more than the amount that can be stashed
inside, its probably not for me!

GenPets have caused quite a stir! These are actually bizarre, altered, bipedal mammals sealed in a plastic bubble where they uneasily rest in some kind of induced hibernation.
A series of glowing and beeping heart monitors on the packages gives a hint that they are alive. The rising and falling of their chests as well as their occasional twitching, shaking and clawing, albeit limited by the tie-wraps, which keep them in place, confirms the life of these creatures.
They are there, ready to take home and add to your life as the next entertainment gadget; bioengineered creatures, mass-produced, and pre-packaged for your convenience.
Genpets are living, breathing mammals. Bio-Genica is a Bioengineering Company that has combined, and modified existing DNA to create the Genpets lineup. Genpets are flesh and blood just like any other animal.
How do they do it?
Bio-Genica use a process called "Zygote Micro Injection" which is quickly becoming a favourable method to combine DNA, or to insert certain proteins from different species.
Most notably it was used in 1997 to splice mice with bioluminescent jellyfish and has since been used to create glowing rabbits, pigs, fish, and monkeys. Since then, human DNA has been injected into chimpanzees, spider into sheep.
Yep, and now, Genpets have arrived.
These are being displayed in a store where hordes of teens wanting a bioengineered pet met confused, baffled, or even shocked looks from parents. Of course, animal rights activists are protesting the way these small Bio-genetically engineered creatures are kept trapped in plastic!
Want one? Shocked? Want to protest? READ MORE! |

This is probably the most bizzare iPod accessory that I have ever come across!
The iCarta - from Atech Flash Technology (yeah, that's the name of the company) - is a toilet paper holder that has 4 speakers, an iPod dock and runs on AC power that continuously charges your favorite music player!
Costs $99.95.
According to the Atech sales manager, "We want to create something that is different and brings people joy for buying such products. The product is even protected by our own patent worldwide."
Of course, who could have imagined such a TechSnack! |

Do you hate taking clothes on and off inside a store's dressing room? Sometimes that can quite a pain!
Now, the German Metro Group has something up their sleeve!
The intelligent dressing room was displayed at CeBit.
This scans your measurements and displays your image on a screen. You can then change various outfits 'virtually' on the screen and see how great (or not!) you look in 'em!
The screen displays the item that the user has selected, automatically. Further, it also suggests other items that the user might like!
Now if only the store can display a 'Google Ad' on the side to generate 'click' revenue! :) |

Ever work in a slient environment, where the mouse clicks can be heard like a pounding 'hammer' ? Well, you can get the totally silent mouse from 'Thanko', a Japanese company.

The silent mouse uses a 'silicon' pad and various other sound proof techniques to eliminate sound.
Even the 'light-up' scroll wheel is silent!
Now, where's that totally silent keyboard? |

You can (finally) use your cellphone to show Windows screens and documents with the same VGA quality as a desktop or laptop! But, it could be a while before you see the first devices with that kind of capability.
At the Society for Information Display International Conference and Exhibition (SID 2006) tradeshow in San Francisco, Samsung announced that they have developed a 1.98" panel to achieve VGA resolution and display a total of 307,200 pixels (640x480 pixels) on its screen area.
The amorphous silicon (a-Si) TFT-LCD is the world's first to pack actual VGA resolution on a cellphone-sized 1.98" display.
The LCD is capable of running at a pixel density of 400 pixels per inch (ppi). That is about ten times the 40 ppi density of a typical 40" HD LCD TV.
400 ppi translates into a picture clarity that can show visual details as small as 63 microns, which is about half the width of a human hair!
The screen also shows up to 16 million colors and can cope with "extremely fast data transmission rates required today," according to Samsung. |

QD Vision, a startup company in Watertown, MA, has developed a monochromatic 32-by-64-pixel test bed for a technology that will probably replace the high definition TVs of today.
The display will be thin, flexible and you will be able to see it clearly in direct sunlight!
Moreover, it will use less power than a conventional laptop LCD!
According to QD Vision, the technology will enable the display to cover more of the visible color spectrum than current displays and produce such high-contrast images that today's flat-screen displays will look dull and washed out by comparison.
How do they do it?
The display uses quantum dots. These are nanoparticles that are actually nanoscale semiconductor crystals. When the size of the particles are changed, they emit a different color. The colors emitted by these particles are supposedly very pure.
By getting pure color, the displays will be more color saturation than current ones.

This super-cool media player has a 260000 color display. What you will NOT find in this player are buttons! That's right... the iRiver clix doesnt have any buttons or scroll wheels.
All you do is rock the screen. If you press down on the edges, you can navigate the player. It comes with a digital FM tuner, Macromedia Flash player, alarm clock, voice recorder, etc. It also sports a fast USB 2.0 interface. Plays for 25 hours on a single charge.
And oh.. if you are wondering if the screen can be smudged easily, it comes with a supply of screen cleaners too! READ MORE for specifications
