A Virginia based telecommunications company has created a new type of wireless transmitter and receiver that can send and receive data at more than 1 Gigabit per second! According to GigaBeam, they use an electromagnetic spectrum that is closer to visible light, at terrahertz frequencies. But when weather conditions are disruptive, like rain, snow, fog, etc, data transmission could be hampered.
